lead us on, angels above.

and so today i bring shit & heart-wrenching news.
a close, loved and cherished friend of mine has left.
he was wise beyond anyone's years, an absolutely beautiful, sharing, selfless, teaching person whom i am so blessed to have gotten the chance to befriend.
but there arent going to be any "goodbye"s here, only "seeya later"s..

today i went shopping, and actually painted the town quite red in my hideous get-up, which i managed to catch fleeting full-bodied glimpse about every second, thanks to the way mirrors seem to squeeze their way into every unsuspecting corner of every store inside a shopping mall.
we'd stayed overnight in a motor inn in a northern brisbane suburb, due to unexpected circumstances. funnily though, the lady accidentally charged us $1.09 instead of $109 for the night (heehee), or so said the receipt. so in the morning dad drove out without delay, and without key in hand; leaving it in the hotel room for the lady at reception to find herself, in case she figured out the pricing mis-hap before we could run as fast as our (quiiite literally) little legs could take us..other than my dad, who ironically is not little at all, but something around 6 foot. where oh where are his genes.
but the point i was trying to create was that this shoddie little overnight abode featured no full length mirror. so i had to stand on chairs, beds, tv arials (kidding) to get a look at my last minutely put together outfit. turns out the mirror LIED. bastard. so i looked siiiick all morning, without realising til i finally looked in one of the catrillions of mirrors :(

THOUGH i was not entirely deterred in crazy cool shopping, i picked up a glowing piece of sunshine for the up and coming and verrry much anticipated on my behalf, mocktailzzzz. im super duper excited, but will enclose minimal details on what it looks like, thankyooou paranoia.
and i found a snazzy belt which i WILL tell you all about. it involves a gorgeous biggish gold horse buckle on a thin black leather band, and its sort of meant for high-waisted great -or questionable- taste.
ive been seeing sort of shiny/leather lookalike ankle length tights all day which im loving myself sick in in my fantasies. i saw a pair in witchery or something and reaally considered buying, but then saw a pair in jayjays and was somewhat disappointed. so who knows what will become of this two minute craze of mine.

s'all.

wait wait dont actually go yet, im going to the tennis tomorrow.. so wish me luck on getting on television with my suberrrrrb long sleeve fishing shirt (actually my brother's ex part-time pharmacy button-up work shirt)and free RSL broad-brimmed hat, ouch :(

taut, tight & terrific

somehow, despite the 30-something temperatures outside, i've been entirely and very prematurely engulfed in winter culture over the last few weeks. all i've been thinking about is what stockings and scarves i'll be wearing with what shoes and dresses.. so here's to hoping that myer will still stock its usual abundance of stockings & tights when i go there in a week, regardless of which season we may or may not be in.

and so, in blatantly ignoring the next 6 months, this is what is on my winter woolies wishlist:

1. some tartaned goodness.

2. a pair of back-seamed stockings.
you know, the ones from way back when, the 50s i think. unfortunately they're a little bit stripper-esque and my last pair were uber-thin and so they contracted a pretty massive ladder somewhere in my travels..or possibly just in the wash.
the cool old lady next door said she used to draw the seam on the back with chalk, and i'd like to try that one day, but i think for now i'll just get a pair that are pre-seamed. so much less hassle!

3. my third-most wanted piece of awesome might have to be a DIY creation of my own, as i'm not entirely sure if tie-dyed stockings are sold anywhere near here, as of yet. haha. but dont they just sound perfect for a crazy sunday or a picnic or something. :)

4. any bright coloured stockings, preferably a pink or purple. gossip girl mostly inspired this.

5. and last but not least, just a pair of transparent white stockings, ala serena van der woodsen.
was hard to come across a picture of these. i know serena has worn them in loads of gg episodes, but the only image i could come across was of jenny humphrey.
hm, im thinking id like to steer away from opaque though.

also, i think i'd secretly like to get me into some legwarmers, too.
