The weather forecast read ‘grey skies, gugelhupf & gotye,’ well okay..if you insist.

Generally speaking, I like to remain pretty open-minded.

BUT
..the very idea of the words ‘taupe’ ‘sweets’ and 'digital photo frame' make me sick.

my computer and i had a fallout, so it spat ugly fluoro colours at me..but then again, maybe it turned out kinda cool?

I live in the faces of people.
From every face that i have crossed i have learnt something new; something exciting about the world. A little is gathered from within the gaze, a little from the structure of their jawline stretching up to their cheekbones and the rest from within the purse of their lips and radiance of their smile.
Like the age-rings inside a treetrunk; faces, to me, ooze stories and life. I find no interest in beauty or perfection, but in real courage and brilliance. This greatness can be found lying within the soft depths of wrinkles and freckles.

So many people think that eyes are the window into another's soul, but to me it is embedded within the whole structure..a face's entire makeup. The way a person holds their mouth, for example, can send hundreds of tiny messages out into the world. Similarly, the way in which a woman's eyebrows are majestically poised and shaped can create a suggestion as easily as the depth of a hairline can characterise a whole personality and subculture.

At work I study the faces of those who come in, making guesses and alas, judgements, on what that person could be like. I like to imagine what they may do for a living or if they have children, and if so; how many children they have had. I wonder what their handwriting might be like, where they have travelled, what accent they could have. Sometimes i think about the sort of music that they might be interested in, or which strength of coffee they prefer.

My days are quite often affected by the facial expressions that people have pulled, sometimes intuitively, and often not realising that they have even created a slight frown or twitched the corner of their mouth for a slight moment. Through the gestures or eye contact it can be interesting to sense impatience, peacefulness or even a patronising thought. Of course, most of the time I have been far off-target of what I have expected the person's personality or mood to be, though just once or twice have I been close to being correct. And in those short slices of time i have felt wholesome, if not satisfied, within my estimation.

Like humans, animals have a parallel engaging quality. It is the gaze of a gorilla or a goldfish that draws humans to that being. You know not what is embedded in their mind at that particular time, if anything at all, but there is an understanding that cannot be ignored nor denied. Intelligence is not necessarily the key point, it is the feeling of exchange on a personal level through the widening of their eye, or the slight flaring of nostrils that truly evokes a sense of communication deep inside the human conscience. The internal goings on hardly matter, all that is important lies purely within the face.

I feel faces to be the most influential and striking feature of a person, as a whole. Our bodies and characters are merely added bonuses that were received simultaneously. All of a person is reflected in their facial features; it all comes down to knowing just how and where to look.

i thought i'd include some of my old art work from 08 in this post, but photobucket was being mega slow so i only have this for today, which is in no way my own work..whoopsie daisy;
(but the text is pretty dead-on fantastic: 'Indifference to one's neighbour and his troubles is a conditioned reflex in life in New York city.'
